John Rocker is working on his comeback to the majors.

Former Braves closer John Rocker is thinking comeback. The left-hander -- released June 27 by the Devil Rays, his third team since Atlanta traded him in 2001 -- expects to be throwing off a pitching mound again early next year after having surgey to repair a torn rotator cuff July 15. "I've just been beating my head against a wall, last year and this year, why I wasn't throwing well," Rocker told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The two games vs. the Pirates last night didn't really impress me all that much. neither did the sweep by the mets @ shea. If they can get their act together and all start hitting at the same time, the Braves should be able to win the world series, no matter how bad the bullpen is....

If all that it took was offense, then the Red Sox would have won a few over the years. A lock? With that bullpen, they are anything but a lock. Lucky for them, everyone else has pen problems, too. If your bullpen doesn't perform in the playoffs, then you can't win the series. With starting pitchers going fewer and fewer innings now, the bullpen is where it's at come playoff time. If their hitting comes around for the playoffs, they still better be prepared to win 3-2 games rather than 10-8 games.

If all it took was offense, my Texas Rangers would have a few World Series rings as well. :-D ;-D
