What's the deal with Arroyo?

It's not fatigue. He claims that he could pitch on three days rest all through the season. Apparently he's a throwback and has a rubber arm. Although, personally, it looks like he's lost about 2 mph on his fastbasll since the first month.

Anyway, ya, he's just not the ace he looked like early on. Probably a 3.80-4.00 ERA kind of pitcher. Six innings and 3 ER feels like a pretty typical start for him, with a gem or two thrown in. And man does he give up HR's.

If I owned him in a fantasy league I would never start him at GABP, but would relish a start in San Diego and LA. A lot of the HR's he gives up barely go out.

The "Arroyo Flair" caught the NL'ers off guard. Now they're used to him and not even the corn rows can help him.

his record is right on pace with last year

his strikeout rate is about the same maybe higher due to facing pitchers

and he shaved a bit off his ERA from making the NL switch

same old bronson

perfect example of a sell high candidate when he was tearing it up

Some guys get off to silly hot starts that they have no chance to keep up, Arroyo and Glavine are great examples of crappy pitchers who had great turns. There is nothing 'wrong' with them other than the fact that some teams were too stupid to trade them at high value.

Could it be that the hitters didn't know him and now they do??
