Webb - no pain after bullpen session

Postby bcb » Wed Aug 09, 2006 1:35 pm

Good news for Webb owners.

From Rotowire:
Aug 9 Webb (elbow) proclaimed himself pain free and fit to return to the rotation after a bullpen session for Arizona on Tuesday, the East Valley Tribune reports.

Recommendation: According to the report, Webb threw 54 pitches and felt no pain in his first full throwing session since his elbow started barking last week. "No problems. The location was a little bit off, which was to be expected a little bit, since I hadn’t been off the mound in a little bit," Webb said. "We’ll wait and see how it feels (Wednesday). I anticipate it feeling good." Webb, who leads the NL with a 2.74 ERA, is expected to start either Friday or Saturday for Arizona, with new arrival Livan Hernandez getting the other start.

Very happy to hear this about Webb. He's been the single bright spot on a staff that includes Os, Peavy, Sheets and Pettite.

as a webb owner this is good news, but cmon...did you expect pettite to perform in the first half? look at last year, he was terrible in the first half and hes only a year older...peavy and oswalt i can understand

pettites era is more than half a point better after the break and he gets a slight boost in Ks/9 after the break..also, with 27 less games played in the first half, he actually has 4 less wins

back to webb, he has been surprisingly good...i knew he would have a good year, but this year for him has surpassed my expectations by far...great to hear hes doing well

Do we bench him for his first start back? It seems as though pitchers rarely bring their A game their first start back from a missed start/DL stints.
