Is it time to go with RP?

1st in 12 team standard 5x5 nonkeeper daily roto yahoo league.

I have 450 innings remaining (-65.1). Is it time for me to go with RP and get rid of some SP for more hitting?

I'll likely finish with double digit points in Saves. My Ks are near the top so getting good K rate RP should keep me afloat to get at least 8 points. ERA is close. Right now my WHIP is 1.26 but if I keep it under 1.3 I'll be good.

There was an TMR article with a chart showing what ERA you need to have the desired ERA. I believe my staff has to have a 4.00 to 4.05 ERA from here on out for me to keep my low 4.00 ERA.

Is it possible for Oswalt, Peavy, Myers, Kazmir, CHamels, Lackey to collectively ruin my ratios?

I don't really understand your question. Didn't you want to trade your SP for some RP. I think you should, you do have a good pitching staff but if you are 65 innings over you need to start trading for a hitter or RP.

I have an extra (not over) 65 innings.

1) If I only start RP the rest of the way, will their occasional blowup ruin my ratios.

2) Did I use enough innings?

I'm trying to trade BMyers, Lackey and/or Hamels for Paps so I can put him in the SP slot so I have 6 RP. Or maybe I could get SP/RP Dempster.

Thanks for the help on mine, Unfortunately I don't think I can give you very good advice on your question as I am not familiar with thist type of league. From what I understand it seems like a logical strategy to trade some SP for a RP who is SP elgible. However both Papelbon and Dempster make me nervous. Papelbon needs his regular catcher back. Dempster had a pretty scary stretch, but has settled down and is once again effective.

There are a lot of MRs and 8th inning setup guys who have awesome ERAs, WHIPs, and K/9s. I would definitely look into it if you don't need wins or saves.

MR aren't going to make a heck of difference to your overall ratios from here on out.

Figure 20-25 innings max out of whomever you pick up, so do the quick math yourself. If one MR gave up zero ER's over that 25 innings, what would it do for your ERA? I am guessing not much

i say keep starting the SPs and do what you've been doing. i dont really see those pitchers blowing up your pitching numbers. they are all solid pitchers and you should continue to use them as they are supposed to be used. how are you doing in Wins? cant you use some wins since you are under innings pitched?

I have 11.5 with 58 wins. Top 6 teams have 50+ wins. Team with 6 points has 48.

I usually don't worry about Wins but hopefully RP can pick up some cheap wins or I can use spot starts.

if you are under innings used, why not just keep starting SPs? they are not horrible by any means and you can skip starts against good teams if you are that worried. you shouldnt be worried though. if you were OVER innings pitched by a lot, that strategy makes sense but in your situation, you can wrap up wins and Ks by keep starting the SPs. i would try to trade kazmir away if i had to make a trade though.
