i went to a D-Backs game last year. just for fun, and because Unit was on the mound. he absolutely dominated, it was almost scary. 17 K's in 9 innings. when he's healthy, he's flat-out unhittable at ANY age.
the only problem with Unit is that his slider is hanging over the middle instead of darting in. when he has that slider, it's the best pitch any pitcher throws. by a mile.
i know he'll come back to form. a drop-off like that in one year? it's unthinkable. he'll be back. watch.
I'm sure someone out there will take him before the second round is over. Most of us won't get him late in the draft because someone will take a chance on him early.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....
And if that's the case, IMO, so be it. Even if he returns almost to form (like Brown this year), he still won't be that much better than pitchers like Mulder, Zito, Hudson, Halladay, Wood, Morris, Mussina, etc. that will probably be there in the 3rd round and carry much less risk.
I'm going to avoid him next year unless he falls to round 5. Just too risky for me.
