Twins purchased the contract of RHP Matt Garza from Triple-A Rochester.
The Twins didn't say when Garza would debut, but Friday seems like a good guess. After Brad Radke tonight, the Twins have Johan Santana and Carlos Silva scheduled for the following two days. Garza, who was 3-1 with a 1.85 ERA and 33 strikeouts in five starts for Rochester, is worth using in AL-only leagues right away. He'd be worth grabbing in mixed leagues if he gets off to a good start.
Man, am I glad I still have a high waiver spot in my AL-only league after losing out on Carlos Lee and Bobby Abreu... Garza is gonna go Anthony Reyes on all of us, you watch.

How good is he? Who is he on par with, as far as young guys who have pitched in the bigs this year?
Where does he fall in this group of young pitchers?
Francisco Liriano
Justin Verlander
Jered Weaver
Cole Hamels
Jon Lester
Jeremy Sowers
Matt Cain
Zach Miner
Chuck James
Chad Billingsley
Anthony Reyes

Roger Angell: I was talking with Bob Gibson and I said: 'Are you always this competitive?' He said: 'Oh, I think so. I got a three-year old daughter, and I've played about 500 games of tic-tac-toe with her and she hasn't beat me yet.'
