Funny thing, during the Angels game last night, the announcers responded to an update of the Twins game/Liriano. Both agreed that they though Liriano would be destined for being a closer, because he throws a 97 mph fastball, and has a wicked delivery for the slider, noting his past arm (elbow?) troubles. His delivery may be too wicked to sustain a long term successful career as a starter. This would be a shame because he is so talented.

Granted, he'll still be a top ten ranked P going into next season should he show he can stay healthy and the injury isn't serious. Liriano will have stretches again where you will be able to deal him for whoever you want.

This from Yahoo!

Aug 8 Liriano is likely headed to the DL and is out indefinitely after feeling soreness in his throwing forearm, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Liriano experienced pain in a different muscle near his elbow than last week and is more worried about his arm than before, the paper adds.

Recommendation: He'll have further exams this week, but this doesn't look good. Expect him to miss several starts as a minimum and he could be out much longer.

God NO!!!!!!

The Star-Tribune reports that Francisco Liriano is out indefinitely with an apparent left elbow injury. After his outing on Monday, the lefty admitted that he was still sore and was unable to throw any of his pitches. "I couldn't even throw the fastball, slider, changeup, anything," he said. "It bothered me every pitch I threw." Liriano will be reexamined by orthopedic physician Dan Buss after the team returns to Minnesota on Wednesday
