Liriano's start tonight

I think I'd rather have him on the DL than go out there and get pounded on. Watched some highlights and he looked like a shell of his usual outstanding self. Pitching is damn frustrating.

is there any chance they might shut liriano down for the season do u think? should i maybe try to move him real fast before news of this gets out?

This reminds me of what happened to Verlander last year. At around the same point last season, Verlander came down with dead arm/sore forearm (it was reported a couple different ways). He was shut down for the year. He probably could have come back after some rest, but they took the safest action.

The question is if the Twins would go for the safest action or not since they are in a playoff chase. For now, it is probably best to rest Liriano with a DL stint and go from there. Sometimes all that is needed is rest. Shutting him down for the year is probably premature at this point.

Aug 8 ESPN.com reports Minnesota Twins SP Francisco Liriano (forearm) is likely headed to the disabled list with a strained left forearm. "It's a muscular problem - as the game was going on (Monday), he started to feel it," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. "We had him checked out before, and everything was fine, but we'll have him checked out again. It's muscles, not his elbow."

First off, does it seem fishy to anyone else that Gardenhire felt the need to call it a 'muscular' problem twice? He also seemed to put emphasis on it NOT being an elbow issue. Am I reading too much into this, or does what he said sound like they might be hiding something?
