A little blurb from the Cron: http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f ... TL&type=as

Harden news: Harden, who has been out with a strained elbow ligament for more than two months, is expected to play catch Friday, which he said has been the plan for the past three weeks.

At this point, it's more likely Harden would come back in relief than as a starter.

For what it's worth, Harden has a established track record of claiming to feel "great" at almost any point during injury/rehab period. Don't believe it. Wait to see the evidence and hear it from the manager/ trainer or doctor.

Sheets, on the other hand, sounds like Eyore until the day he is ready to take the mound.

They are at opposite ends of the optimism spectrum.

First of all, it's Eeyore. ;)

Second of all, that is SO true. Every time I hear Sheets interviewed during rehab I come away thinking his career is over.

Reading the press clippings makes me think of Ben Sheets kinda like this....

Per Yahoo!
Aug 12 Mychael Urban, of Athletics.MLB.com, reports Oakland Athletics SP Rich Harden (elbow) threw for the first time in two months Friday, Aug. 11. Harden was only scheduled to work up to 75 feet but did so well he threw from 90 feet, "I think he'd have probably gone further if we didn't stop him, but it's his first time throwing in two months, so we thought [90] was enough," said head trainer Larry Davis.

Well at least he's finally throwing.
