My 'The Flash' Sig (See Also: Creativity)

Postby bigh0rt » Sun Aug 06, 2006 3:03 am

Ok, so I've been thinking (uh oh)...

... very rarely have I seen anything lately that I'd deem in the least bit creative in terms of sig creation on these forums. Everything seems to be very cookie cutter, in terms of partial desaturation of player renders, similar lighting effects on similar backgrounds, with varying texts (to a degree). Now, I got a nice reaction to my Wade sig in the Cafe tournament that's currently going on, partially because of my opposition's submission, but to be honest, I was very hesitant about submitting it, and thought about going the route I referred to above; mainly because it seems to be what people are into at the moment... my question is, where's the creativity gone? Why are people no longer exploring different styles and areas? Certainly there are people with the PS ability here -- but why not choose to try something different? Something that may not look like what a lot of people are wearing currently, but could be pretty cool none the less?

Maybe I'm the only one with thos opinion? I don't know. I'm curious to find out...

Either way, here's my sig again -- I love it. In fact, I'm going to try and come up with something completely different for each round I'm able to advance through this tournament, and see what kind of reactions I get to each... Please feel free to C+C...

Because most people are confident that the cookie cutter style works. Luckily your creativity appealed to the voters here, but its a very risky play.

yeah i got pretty good comments on one of my sigs that i made on the basketballside which was a film strip type thing. So I am thinking I may start making sigs that arent so typical (if im not too lazy). I think its hard to do that, because most of the time you have to sumhow imcorporate the style into the topic/theme and often times it doesnt work. This time it did.

Probably because what you described is all a lot of people know how to do. If they just make sigs for this site, it's all they really even see. I know I don't even really know what other styles to try. I'd love to try new things, and new techniques...in fact I try to every time I make a sig, but because I don't really know what I want it to look like, it usually winds up like all the others.

If you or anyone else have any examples or sites that show a variety of styles, I'd be very interested in taking a look.

I happen to be on both crews, but they're also arguably 2 of the best graphic sites out there.

These things (torneys) are like presidential elections. You've just got to dumb down your stuff enough so that it appeals to the masses.

Oh ya graphics sites.. WCRemix is the BEST place on the net for sports walls if you're into that. BBC has good bball walls and sigs. NFL-FVR has fantastic nfl sigs. I don't know if they even do walls period though heh.
