Speier loses closers job

Postby jdh » Wed Sep 03, 2003 3:54 pm

According to RotoWire, Speier has now lost the closer's job, or his share of the closer's job and Brian Fuentes is now the Rockies closer:

Brian Fuentes (P) COL 9/3/2003
Fuentes, and not Justin Speier, is now the Rockies' closer, the Denver Post reports. Manager Clint Hurdle wanted to have Fuentes close starting this weekend in Los Angeles, but the Rockies were swept by the Dodgers and never had a save opportunity arise.

Thanks JDH. ;-D

I just dropped Leskanic and Cliff Lee for him (had to get V-Mart off the DL, too).

Would you drop David Weathers for him? I currently have Looper, Kim, and Weathers (who is holding the spot for Smoltz while he is on the DL).

Yeah, I probably would drop Weathers for him. Apparently, Moreno is now going to be splitting save opps with the Mets and he already was sharing with Franco and Stanton. Fuentes sounds like he should get the majority of saves for his team the rest of the way. The Coors Field thing is the only possible hangup.
