I forgot to mention that I would be able to keep Miller as one of my minor league keepers, whereas I would lose Patterson after the year if i dont trade him

Uh, do it in a heartbeat. If you can't keep him, and he's not going to pitch again this year, he's pretty much useless to you. Might as well get a potential ace in return.
C: Pierzynski 1B: Pujols 2B: Altuve 3B: Miggy SS: HanRam OF (x3): CarGo, M. Bourn, D. Jennings UTIL (x2): E. Encarnacion, C. Hart BN: Cuddyer, C. Ross, J. Montero
Yea that was my plan.....but I guess what I am asking is if John Patterson is worth more than Miller?? I mean...can i get anything better for him from a team needing keepers?

Patterson has always been injury prone and now that he has come back to earth after last season, people are going to realize it. So really if you can get any value out of him I would take it and Miller was one of if not the best pitcher in the draft this year. I'm not sure you would be able to get anything better now, possibly could of last year but that's a diff story now.
Like hybrid said, you should definitely move Patterson, though his value is pretty low at the moment. He is a good pitcher, but has trouble staying healthy. Finding a guy willing to take him could be difficult, but a guy with few keepers may not have a choice. He may have better prospects - try and get one of them. If not, Miller is a potential stud. I'm not sure where he'll rank, but I'm sure we'll get a good idea of how good he is with that "September Call-Up Guarantee" in his contract.

Don't you guys think if Patterson can stay healthy(big if, but so is the chance of any given pitching prospect to make it to the majors) he can be a top 10 SP in the NL? Trading that kind of talent for a 2006 draftee who hasn't pitched professionally at all seems too much for me. But I guess you really can't get much for Patterson at all and might as well trade him since you can't keep him.

Dont trade Patterson for Miller.....Miller is great, but Patterson has proven he could be a stud at MLB level....I own both of them, and would rather have Patterson
I'm not sure if Patterson can be considered a stud...he's never won 10 games. I agree he's a good pitcher, but I don't think his numbers put him in the stud category. I like Millers upside, and the Tigers have done a good job of developing their pitchers lately.
Patterson has only pitched over 145 innings, once in his entire life. He has been injured this year, 2004, 2003, 2001, and 2000. That means he has been only healthy last year and in 2002 (still didn't pitch over 145 innings) over the last 7 years. To me he is a proven talented arm that will basically always have an injury, we know what he is for the most part. Miller has a talented arm and doesn't nearly have the injury record that Patterson has. Also Miller wasn't just a regular 2006 draftee, he was the best pitching prospect in college that year and likely would of gone 1st with out his money demands.
