HOLY CRAP HOW DID THIS GUY MESS UP SO BAD

Postby Belle4Hall88 » Fri Aug 04, 2006 3:52 pm

Was just looking over the draft results from my league, and this guys draft really caught my mind. He had the 4th pick overall, and this guys draft was amazing. Funny thing is though, he is in 7th place :-? . Started looking at the transactions and the guy just made some HORRIBLE moves. He messed up this roster...

1. Vladdy
2. Soriano
3. Sizemore
4. Rollins
5. V-Mart
6. M.Giles :-t
7. Mauer
8. Jenks
9. Giambi
10. Huff
11. Hunter
12. Weeks
13. Renteria
14. Green
15. Contreras
16. Lowe
17. Zimmerman
18. Atkins
19. Wood :-t
20. Penny
21. Encarnation
22. Morris
23. Hawpe
24. Wang
25. McCarthy
26. Heliman
27. Burnitz

Only 2 really bad draft picks, but a lot of awesome ones. Seems to be a firm beliver of buy low/sell high. Here are all the trades he's made to date...

PRESEASON:
Traded Victor Martinez for Paul Konerko & Mike Jacobs.
B-)
Traded Rollins and Heliman for Isringhausen & Crosby.
:-t
Traded Marcus Giles for Kevin Mench ;-D
Traded Grady Sizemore & Bobby Jenks for Hank Blalok, Andy Pettitte, Zach Duke :-P
Traded Torri Hunter & C.Wang for A.J. Burnett & O.Villarreal

MOVES MADE IN SEASON:
Traded Jose Contreras & Brad Hawpe for Kenny Lofton & Mike Maroth 8-o

Traded J.J. Putz for Randy Johnson :-t

Traded Jason Giambi & Kelvim Escobar for Cole Hamels & Bill Hall :-o

Traded Alfonso Soriano for Mark Teixeria & Ben Sheets :-?

Traded Rickie Weeks for Joey Gathright & Todd Coffey :-b

Traded Atkins, Hawpe & Renteria for Michael Young, Griffey Jr. & Alay Soler :-/

Every league has at least one idiot. Good thing you spotted the one in yours.

actually i dont think his draft was all that phenomenal. Look at the pitching he drafted. Contreras, Lowe, Wood, Penny, Morris, Heilman, McCarthy, and Jenks. Only one reliever and no ace (Contreras or Penny are NOT aces in my book). I think his hitting is great but it would be reasonable to expect him to lose all the pitching categories. However some of those moves were poor and he belongs where he belongs...

Hindsight is 20/20. At the time of the trade, I think many of those moves he made would have seemed reasonable.

Hindsight aside on the trades, even if he kept his roster intact from the draft he'd be dead last in damn near all the pitching categories. Stellar offense + horrendous pitching = middle of the pack in fantasy.

Imo, his draft went horribly. He had no pitching, and needed to gamble on trades to bring in arms. :-t :-t :-t

The draft wasn't great and the trades weren't that bad.

He drafted an amazing offense, but his pitching was terrible. The trades probably looked nice at the time. As everyone said hindsight is 20/20.

He drafted an amazing offense bc he spent his first 14 rounds on offense. He has 0 ace and only one that can be considered a 2nd starters (contreras) and one third starter (wang), the rest of the sp are waiverwire material. And there is only one closer in jenks. This is simply a draft gone wrong.

"Traded Alfonso Soriano for Mark Teixeria & Ben Sheets "

This might not end up being that bad of a trade if Sheets can dominate and Tex continues to heat up.
