The Pirates want to get rid of him because they gave him a ridiculously big contract that they now regret, and that is holding them back big time. From a fantasy standpoint, you don't care about what his contract is, and he's still a catcher playing everyday.
If you can't get Posada, IRod or Piazza, you're looking for a guy that won't hurt you, and Kendall is ideal. Right now he's tied for the lead among catchers in batting average with Lopez, and is second to IRod among catchers in runs and steals. That's way above average production from the catcher position in 3 of the 5 categories. I don't know how you can consider him a bust.

It's not his playing. They want to dump that huge contract they gave him. They were expecting him to develop more power, which he obviously hasn't.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....
He'll still get as much or more runs than almost any other catcher, because he hits leadoff or second every day, and most catchers hit 7th through 9th.
Maybe they won't produce as many runs, but the point is he still will score far more runs than the average catcher who hits at the bottom of the lineup. He's a top 5 catcher in any fantasy league IMO.
I never waste the early draft pick on a guy like Piazza. I swapped LoDuca for Kendall a couple months ago and have been very pleased with what he has done. He also has like 22 games in a row, so the starts at the C position will continue to pile up, and I won't need to use a roster spot for a back-up C.
4-4 today with 2 RBI, I'll take it.

Kendall wins three categories quite handily, while AJ barely beats out Kendall in "his" categories, HR and RBI. AJ's average isn't exactly bad, but I would prefer Kendall to Pierzysnki just because 14 ribbies isn't all that much. Also, Kendall doesn't have a backup who's adequate defensively, so he'll be playing more ...
Both are solid, but Kendall is the hot hand right now, with a .410 average over the last month, while Pierzynski's power numbers over that span haven't been as good as he's capable of.
