And the first 20/20 minor league player is ...

Alex Gordon hit his 20th HR tonight to be the first player in the minor leagues to have 20 HR and 20 SB. It really has been a great season for Gordon who made the jump from college straight to AA ball look pretty easy. He has proven his power is legit, he can work counts, hit it all over the field, and even be one of the better base stealers with out having top notch speed. Right now I pretty much think he is almost a lock for minor league player of the year. Other minors leaguers have also had great years, but his prospect status and year combined have him at the top for me.

Don't look now, but the Royals have talent ... yep and it's coming fairly soon. You have the obvious Gordon and Butler who are two of the best hitting prospects, but then Hochevar just signed and Greinke is making progress. Let alone Teahen has actually decided to start swinging the bat, his hot streak will eventually end ... but I think he is proving to be a very solid bat in the future.

Don't forget Justin Huber. I think the Royals have done a great job in getting hitting but their pitching is seriously lacking right now, and they have nobody down on the farm.

Yep, both were stuck behind veteran 1B. I think Howard will hit more HR in his career, but Shealy will have a nice amount himself.

He won't steal 20 in the majors, its not what he does. I could see 15 maybe a couple times throughout his career but thats pretty much it, IMHO.

I wouldn't dismiss him regarding his steals.

The guy is 21 of 24 in stolen bases. If he's going to be successful 80-90% of the time he runs, he'll be stealing bases.

Especially in the weak lineup he'll be hitting (and let's not everyone fool themselves about the Royals - even with Gordon, Butler, and Shealy, they're still going to be a very weak lineup), there will be every incentive to run and get the offense going.

I see no reason why he can't be a 20 SB guy in his rookie year.

Evans, a 24-year-old who has gotten most of his at bats at high A-ball, currently has 30 HR and 32 steals. Good call winterball.
