Favorite Directors

Postby Dan Lambskin » Thu Aug 03, 2006 9:33 am

posted on the Football side too

i dont think this one's been done before, so let's have at it...who are your favorite movie directors?

mine...in no particular order

Tim Burton - i cant think of a bad movie he's made (oh wait, Corpse Bride...but i really love his style)
Kubrick - has mad some absolute masterpieces
Tarantino - what can i say, i love the guy
Robert Rodriguez - Sin City...just blows my mind
Peter Jackson not just for LOTR...his early horror stuff is amazing
Todd Solondz i'll see anything this guy does
Cohn Bros always put out quality movies...well, most of the time
Uwe Boll just seeing who's paying attention ;-7
Terry Gilliam Brazil, Time Bandits, 12 Monkeys, Fear and Loathing...all awesome films

i'm sure i'm missing some, and there's all the great directors like Speilberg, Scorsese and Coppola and all the movie snob faves like Altman and the Frenchies...and while i like alot of those films, they just arent always "must see" movies for me...the one's above, if they make a movie 99% i will see it at some point

I like all of the ones you listed.

A few of my favorites are:

Truffaut- Yeah he's French, but he's extremely good.
Miyazaki- Everything this guy does is amazing
Woody Allen- especially his 70s stuff
Wes Anderson- always good

Completely agree with Kubrick and Gilliam.

Orsen Welles
Sam Raimi

Tarentino is just David Lynch light. I'll watch "Blue Velvet" 100 times more before seeing "Resevoir Dogs" again.

Tarantino is interested in cutting off an ear - Lynch is interested in the ear.

I like many of those already mentioned, especially Wes Anderson, and I'm a big fan of the Coen brothers as well.
