When are they calling up McClung?

Postby rwdiii » Fri Jul 28, 2006 10:32 pm

I'm sick of sitting on both meadows and mcclung. Anybody heard anything indicating when mcclung is headed back up to the big club?

Hopefully soon. Lord knows he's pitching well enough for Durham.

The rest of his pitching history scares me. Plus he seems pretty worried about whatever people say about him, which isnt the best thing for a closer to do

McClung picked up another save tonight, his 4th with the Bulls, while pitching 2/3 of a perfect inning against the Columbus Clippers.

Is this guy gonna be the closer right away if called up?

I think so. They sent him down specifically to learn how to be a closer. Management would obviously like to see if he can actually translate his minor league success to the majors.

Found this on Rotoworld today:

Seth McClung-S- Devil Rays Jul. 30 - 3:35 pm et

Rays manager Joe Maddon indicated Sunday that he sees Seth McClung becoming his team's closer before the end of the season. Brian Meadows would be pushed back into a setup role. McClung will probably be recalled from Triple-A within the next week or so.

To add furthur, i was watching the rays game today and they said that along with whoever is coming up to take wiggy and kazs spots, McClung should be up very soon as well, he will get one non-save relief app then go into the closing role moving meadows back to middle relief

Good news. I have Meadows in three leagues, and I need quick updates on this situation so I don't get caught with my pants down :-b

Though if Meadows becomes the set up man, he might get me some holds in a holds league :-?
