Baseball GM: Cabrera vs. Wright

Postby roninmedia » Wed Aug 02, 2006 10:27 pm

As of right now, Wright is the better fantasy player. I know Nate Silver in an article listing the top 50 players for baseball teams, Wright edges out Cabrera.

However, if you were seriously running a major league team, who would you take? (I'm a marlins fan and my friend is a met fan, so we are slightly biased.

Throw the names in a hat and draw one. Can't go wrong with either. ;-D

They are very similar. I think I'd take Wright simply because I think he has a great demeanor and work ethic.

If I'm making the decision from purely a GM stand point, I take Wright. I believe Miggy has a better bat and more potential, but I don't think he will or should stay at 3B. So as a GM I'm taking the guy who figures to have great defense (at a better position) and a great bat, even if it's somewhat less than Miggy's hitting potential. Also Wright is so marketable and has that all-american feel to him, plays 110%.

Tough choice, but I'd take Cabrera. Slightly better offensively, about even defensively. Cabrera has a full season's more experience at the big league level.

Pretty even, but Id also go with Cabrera for similar reasons.

I think I'd take M-Cab, simply because I feel he has more offensive potential. They are close defensively. It's really so close that it doesn't even matter though.

I'd say Wright. There doesn't seem to be a very big difference offensively and looking at the defensive statistics they seem to be very close defensively. So it comes down to personality and the few times I've seen Wright talk, he has the kind of charisma that makes you like him.

I would take Wright. I believe I have read that Cabrerra has a serious attitude problem.
