I regret doubting hamels and not playing him tonight against the mets. who would have thought he could do that? i was expecting him to get rocked again.

Don't feel bad, its quite understandable. I would prolly have done the exact same thing. ;-D Especially considering the Mets lineup these days.

Same here. After Weaver mastered the Yanks while sitting on my bench, I decided to play 'em if I got 'em. Hamels was ace material last night.

I traded Craig Hansen for Hamels at the All-Star break. Got very lucky with the timing......He's been great ever since.....

sorry to get off topic but you traded craig hansen, the below average middle reliever for the red sox, who shouldn't be on any fantasy team in any format, for cole hamels? that's just wrong.

I'm in a 11 team, auction/draft league-no waiver wire. We have a 3 round mid-season supplemental draft also.

I drafted Hansen as a backup to Foulke before the year started. No drops, so I was stuck with him for the year. Obviously, he was just taking up space.

The team I traded with tried to draft Hansen with his first pick of the mid-season 3 round draft, not realizing I had him. The owner lives in Massachusetts, I guess a Sox fan.

He drafted Hamels in the 2nd round-he was still available. I offered him Hansen right after the draft for Hamels, and he jumped at it.

Hamels will only cost 3 bucks for next year. Kind of makes up for my trading Howard (15bucks 2 yr.) and Crede (5 bucks) in June for Pujols (can't keep), VMart (can't keep) and Napoli (1 buck).

The problem with making projections based on minor league stats is that you are projecting individual players based on a generalized population. True, it may project that Hamels will have a career ERA of over 4, but from what anyone can see he will be a star for years to come (with an ERA near 3) if he doesn't get injured.

Now that he has his pinpoint location back that he displayed in the minors, you can just see how nasty his changeup is. He makes his opponents look like fools.
