Matsui: Will he return to form?

Postby vykeengfan » Wed Aug 02, 2006 11:59 am

When Matsui comes off the DL, what are his chances that he picks up where he left off? The reason why I'm asking is that I have him on my dl, and I'm thinking that if he can come back strong, I can move either Holliday, Miggy, or Arod if Matsui. With about a week to go in our trading deadline, I'd like to make a move.
Any thoughts?

I don't know if he will return to his form right away, but he is worth the gamble. His protection in the line-up just got stronger when NYY traded for Abreu and there are talks that Sheffield will play 1B upon his return. Imagine this line-up:

Damon, Jeter, Sheffield, Giambi, A-rod, Abreu, Matsui, Posada, Cano (#3-6 can change any day).

If Yankees can just get good pitching staff, they'll be unstoppable. Except they always seem to go for "left-over", "overrated", "high priced", "over the hill" pitchers other teams just throw away...

In 119 AB's, he's batting .261 with 5HRs and 19RBI :-t ...i'd say the chances that he picks up where he left off will be pretty good :-D

Will he look like he did last season ..

No. (see Derrek Lee).

He might luck into a few Runs and RBIS simply because of that stupid team though. Nothing worth trading for, but if he is on the wire i'd take a chance if your team can risk it.
Friar Wire, Dodgers FAIL, Mets FAIL.
