Liriano scratched from start!

Postby Anaheim Lamers » Tue Aug 01, 2006 9:59 pm

According to Twins pitching coach, it's not serious, but a precaution since he still has a very bright future ahead of him... As of now, it's a tweak in his left elbow. MRI showed no structural problems, but this couldn't be good...

"It's not the elbow, it's just in the forearm," pitching coach Rick Anderson said. "It's muscular. You know, if we were later on in September, we would just [start him]. It's more of a precaution.

"The kid, you don't want to mess with him. If we run him out there and it's not 100 percent and something happens, you'll never forgive yourself."

Liriano told Anderson that he would like to start.

"He said, 'I can go tomorrow,' but we're not going to do it," Anderson said. "I just don't want to risk it with him."

That's nice to know. If one was to believe ESPN, you'd have thought his elbow was about to fall apart.

you guys are ridiculous. Freakin calm down. Hes gonna miss one start. Its totally precautionary. Look what they did to jered weaver. He missed a start for tendonitis and hes fine. Dont freak out over nothing. I like you am concerned but i'm not going to flip out over one missed start...

No one knew he was only going to miss one start with an elbow problem... When the injury was first announced, that's what rotoworld.com had. I think it's more than fair to "freak out" about Lirianio's injury because he's now doing something he has never done before. He's pitching more innings than he ever has and he has had a history of shoulder problems. Add that to the fact that he's carrying my team and many other teams.

From now on though, I will make sure that I come off as having zero emotion in my posts. Amazing.[/b]

I wouldnt worry bout liriano... the twins are just being extra cautious with the best pitcher alive. They did say that if this was late september he'd start but its not so they'll give him a chance to rest. Its not the elbow its not the shoulder, he's just having muscle pains...thats not serious at all....unless your mark prior then you'd be heading to DL :-B

I think Rotoworld said he might start one of the games this weekend.
