This is a paper work move to bring someone up now and have them elegible for the post season roster...I don't know who they brought up....but that was the reason...

They did it to bring up Pat Borders as their 3rd catcher. Maybe they hope they can put him on the playoff roster and he'll regain some of his world series MVP form in the playoffs or something.

Wow, 3 catchers that can't hit on their postseason roster, those M's are sure smart. And that bench they'll have:
McLemore, .231
Mabry, .213
Bloomquist, .246
Cirillo, .205

Put all four of them in one phone booth and they couldn't even hit each other.

It won't matter anyway, they'll be watching the playoffs on TV.
Roger Angell: I was talking with Bob Gibson and I said: 'Are you always this competitive?' He said: 'Oh, I think so. I got a three-year old daughter, and I've played about 500 games of tic-tac-toe with her and she hasn't beat me yet.'
