surprising to say the least..
Alfonso Soriano Stays Put
In the most surprising non-trade of the afternoon, the Nationals have retained Alfonso Soriano. Will the two sides be able to hammer out a long-term contract extension, or will the Nats just have to take a couple of draft picks for their left fielder?
It'll be interesting to hear how the team spins this one. Right now it's hard to see how this was the right choice.

I really hope they can resign Soriano. If they can't then Bowden should be fired especially if the report of them being able to get Garza and baker from the twins.

Don't hold your breathe, but it could still happen in a late announcement. Stranger things have happened.

Wow, if they don't re-sign him, that's just terrible.
Although I am glad he didn't go to LAA or Minny.

Wow...BAD GM'ing imo if true. Soriano has pretty much made i t known he wants huge bucks and would prefer to play 2b in the AL. Maybe he changed his mind, but I would doubt it. I can't imagine the Nats are going to be able to pay him what he wants even if he was willing to stay.

Soriano wants to play 2B and Was won't let him.
Soriano wants a No Trade Clause and Was owner has said no way.
Soriano has a ton of money coming his way and FA market will get him more.
Bowden confirmed he's not traded.
Which means he's gone after the season, unless Washington can somehow pay him what he wants. Awful move by Washington.

WAS has been out of contention for a while
I doubt Soriano is going to bring them any more ppl to come to the stadium during the final months of the season
