Furcal will still play, and Lugo most likely will hit second. All this does is lower Lugo's value IMO. Less steals from him. I suggest people who own him go get Upton if you haven't already.
I am a Lugo owner and am not happy about this trade.
I'm speculating at this point, and am not sure about where Lugo will be and hit in that lineup.

Screw that, I'm ecstatic. Sure, Scott Elbert would've been good, but Guzman has Juan GOnzalez (during his prime) potential. His tools are off the charts...
The Dodgers moved him to OF because tehy wanted LaRoche at 3rd and have Loney at 1B...we could play him at 1B or 3B...maybe put BJ back at SS?
I just wanted something for Lugo, honestly. Based on the crap we got back for Huff, I am so happy about this trade. I feel that we ripped them off, but that's just me.
As a dodger fan--I agree--I felt ripped off a bit by this one--especially after getting maddux for izturis (not bad) and getting betemit for aybar/baez (great!).
well ESPN was hinting that there might be more indepth injuries then being stated right now...i heard something like furcal staying at SS, izturis possibly playing 2B and Kent going back to 1st...but who knows, batting order i would say Lugo hitting somwhere 4-6th...unless they move it like this...Furcal, Lugo, Lofton (if he stays healthy) and JD Drew hitting 4th...once again all depends on who is truley hurt and who is in the lineup that day

A big improvement, and I have to give Colletti a lot of credit for what he has done this season. Furcal was a big screw up, but has put together string of solid moves since.
Lugo is a nice pickup, but are the Dodgers really going to put Nomar at 3b? With his injury history? Man can't stay healthy playing 1b.

Wow, you are definitely more excited then I am over this deal. Well we definitely have a top farm system now for sure, lets just hope 3 or 4 of these guys pan out to become stars and our future will be great for sure. Guzman should be able to handle first base and he may even be moved back to 3rd base and be OK there. I was just basically looking for some MLB ready pitching then more star hopeful bats.
I guess we could see this lineup in another year or so.
1. Upton SS
2. Baldelli CF
3. Crawford LF
4. Young RF
5. Dukes DH
6. Guzman 1B
7. Cantu 2B
8. Longoria 3B
9. Navarro C
Well, if Kent is really hurt worse than first thought, then it's not really a bad trade. For us, to me at least, it made no sense to keep Lugo, because I don't see him as a prominent member of our future...he may be for LAD. Thus, I basically wnated to cash in with anything possible...and Guzman is more than enough.
From the Dodgers' POV, they're definitely a contender. Since SD just traded a big part of their team (Linebrink) for Oliver Perez basically, who does have ace potential but doesn't look healthy this year and the other teams being stagnantly mediocre, these two acquistions really may help this team out. Trading Danys Baez was a bit questionable especially with Saito slowing down, but Betemit is solid and this move will pay off in the future, as he will be an above average regular at 3rd. They wanted to make a move to win the division and these two trades may push them over the top.
