Maddux has been traded to the Dodgers pending approval from the commissioner's office, Fox Sports reports.

The Cubs are also sending more than $1 million in the deal to the Dodgers, so the deal needs to be approved by the league office.

That is helpful. Even if Maddux is now a middling #3 or so starter, he adds some nice depth and important playoff experience to a team that largely lacks it.

i believe this is still just a rumor correct? i heard it on ESPN like 10 min ago but they said nothing has been heard of it since...and if it is true who are the cubbies getting in return? minor leaguers?

Does this make Maddux a legit pickup for the rest of the year, or is he just going to hover around the 4 ERA mark with not too many wins, etc?

It is definitely not just rumor (assuming the commish's office approves it). Izturis is being mentioned as the player going to the Cubs in another thread but I don't have my own source on that.
