Duaner Sanchez in accident (Merged)

Postby Shark » Mon Jul 31, 2006 3:11 pm

Here's the news:

Duaner Sanchez-R- Mets Jul. 31 - 3:09 pm et

Duaner Sanchez is out for the year with a separated pitching shoulder, FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal is reporting.

Tom Glavine flashbacks, only far worse. Sanchez apparently was injured while riding as a passenger in a taxicab that was involved in a car accident Sunday night after the Mets landed in Miami. The Mets might now have to overpay to land some relief help. If Brad Lidge isn't a possibility, Roberto Hernandez and Joe Borowski could be. Aaron Heilman probably can't go anywhere now.

Another freak taxi crash incident for the Mets. This should impact what the Mets do in the next hour....

ESPN's Jayson Stark says the Mets could be close to getting Oliver Perez and Roberto Hernandez from the Pirates.

No word yet on what would go back. The Mets wouldn't want to give up Lastings Milledge for those two, but it's hard to see how they could do it without surrendering Aaron Heilman.

Might be smart with Sanchez now out.

So now the Mets have to pretty much keep Heilman

Oliver Perez? If he couldn't pitch in a crap team like the Pirates with no pressure what makes anybody think he'll pitch well in the Big Apple where they great players like A-rod ?

A lot of what has been reported so far is inaccurate. Omar said today that they don't even know if Duaner needs surgery yet. He will rest today and be rediagnosed tommorow. He will most definitely go on the 15-day DL but that is the only definite thing right now.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
