Typucal rookie ups and downs. Just like Williams in SF. Of course I benched them both, so I get fried once again.

There's no way I could have benched him against Tampa Bay. If I even considered benching him for this start, it would make more sense to just cut him.

I'm glad Harden was able to regain his composure after given up some early runs. Nothing better than seeing a rookie gain experience on the mound.

I know he's a rookie, so he's susceptible to ups and downs, but I watched the game on TV today and he looks so damn good. He looks like he should be great every time out. He was blowing it right by some guys. Of course, it was against Tampa Bay. He goes against them in his next start, too.
Roger Angell: I was talking with Bob Gibson and I said: 'Are you always this competitive?' He said: 'Oh, I think so. I got a three-year old daughter, and I've played about 500 games of tic-tac-toe with her and she hasn't beat me yet.'
