Official Trade Deadline Day Thread

Postby cordscords » Mon Jul 31, 2006 3:03 am

Last years trade deadline was completely boring. A few big names were mentioned, but no deals ever really appeared on the horizon. This year I can see a whole bunch of crazy stuff going down.

I think Soriano and Tejada will have new homes tomorrow. I also see 1 of the big name pichers (Zito, Schmidt, Oswalt) getting dealt.

Should be fun :-D

Well, if by exciting you mean watching your team upgrade from a sub .700 OPS thirdbase platoon to a .750 OPS third-baseman if we get lucky then I agree.

Otherwise, no, it sucks watching your rivals make impact trades.

I wish the Dodgers could make an impact trade. Who exactly are the Padres' rivals? Any NL West teams? As far as I know, I haven't heard of an impact trade taking place in the NL West.

no, there are too many contenders for playoff spots and no enough sellers.

If he somehow comes away with Schmidt or (even better) Oswalt, I will do backflips.

I know Houston needs offense so maybe Crisp and a minor league bat and arm would possibly be a starting point?

Either way I'll be disappointed if I find out that they weren't in on either Schmidt or Oswalt, if they are indeed available. They NEED to be in on both those guys, Oswalt especially.

Agreed, I think today is going to fall way short of expectations.

Appears that it (along with some other threads) have been merged to the ever expanding "rumors" thread stickied at the top of the page...making that thread almost impossible to keep up with.
