If they can get something of value for the future, I'm all for it. Besides, it seems like the team plays better immediately after trading any regular starter. They won 4 straight after trading Giles. Maybe the can go on another streak if they trade Sanders. And don't stop there, trade Matt Stairs, Jason Kendall, Jose Hernandez, and the Pirate Parrot...

The sad part, they are only what, 7 games out? :-)

After losing their last 2 to Atlanta, the Pirates are 9 out now. Still, they were 7 out just a couple days ago, despite the firesale.

As it is, they might play a part in the NL pennant race with 7 of their final 10 games against the Cubs.

If it comes down to that, I'll be rooting for Pittsburgh to knock them off. Trade them 3 starters (Lofton, Ramirez, Simon), then knock them out of the playoff race!
Roger Angell: I was talking with Bob Gibson and I said: 'Are you always this competitive?' He said: 'Oh, I think so. I got a three-year old daughter, and I've played about 500 games of tic-tac-toe with her and she hasn't beat me yet.'

If the Cubs do win, Pirates GM David Littlefield should get a World Series share.
