I think with Pedro coming back, he's probably out of the rotation unless the Mets decide to move out Pelfrey. :-?

I wouldn't rule that out. Maine is getting another start -- albeit with a long layoff in between -- but Randolph has said he will get another start. If he continues to sparkle and Pelfrey is still just mediocre, the Mets would be hard pressed not to send Pelfrey back to AAA. Minaya keeps saying he didn't intend for Pelfrey to pitch in the majors this year...

I agree with Chinst. I don't think Pelfrey to AAA is unrealistic. Maine was a highly touted prospect at one point and Minaya obviously likes him so I don't think he will brush him off that quickly. Maybe this is just a fluke but if Maine continues to pitch like he has, how the heck does he not stay in the rotation?

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

According to Gotham, he might be going to the A's along with Heilman and carlos Gomez, for Zito.

Not sure. Initially they said they'd use a 6-man rotation for a couple of turns to ease Pedro back. But Pedro really settled in after that horrific first. If it's still a 6-man it'll be Thurs. If not I guess he will work out of the bullpen and be a spot starter for the time being.

Darn. I picked him up (as many others did) after his last scoreless start, but now without a start planned he's not very useful on the bench. I guess I'll hold him until thursday and see if he starts then. Thanks.
