i've noticed that in the last week he's started getting games off against lefties. has he become completely worthless at this point? this fact combined with his traditional second half slump make me want to cut him loose. am i crazy for thinking such a thing?
thanks to madison/go_jays_go for the slick sig!

Why would Houston want Blalock?
I would think a more likely suitor to be my Padres.

Astros shopping Lidge?
Jul 29 - The Astros appear to be close to sending RHP Brad Lidge to the Texas Rangers, according to ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney. This might be related to the Astros' efforts to land a hitter. Lidge makes $3.975 million.

buck showalter has basically said recently that blalock will sit vs lefties. he cant hit off them, and is already having his post asb fade.
PLUS he is rumored to be in almost every deal the rangers are in talks about (but that happens every year)

Funny thing about Blalock. His first two full years 2003 & 04 he was a monster in the making.
2003 89 20 90 .300
2004 107 32 110 .276
Now he's just average if not slightly worse. But he's just 25 so he might turn it on again. This year or next.

He started out real strong this year, then just completely died. His minor league numbers were insane, and his first 2 full years were great. I dont know what happened.

Well, Mark Redman is a lefty, and Blalock is playing today, and he's already 1 for 1
