Broxton closes for the Dodgers

He just got a save for the Dodgers. Is he the permanent closer and should I drop Saito and pick him up?

i can't see any reason why saito would lose the closers role. he had one awful outing last time in a non save situation, and I don't recall him even blowing a save. maybe they traded saito?

saito hasn't pitched since the 26th so he must have been available. Man I really want to piss off the Saito owner in my league. I hope Broxton's the new 9th inning guy.

Anyone see the game? Did the announcers say anything?

Could Saito have been traded? Anyone know if he was in the pen?

MLB.com Gameday shows Saito was in the pen today.

Once Broxton got to 2-2 on Nick Johnson with a runner on 1st, Saito began to warm up in the pen. Apparently, even the Dodgers broadcast crew were bewildered on why Broxton was in and not Saito.

So it wasn't that he needed rest nor was he traded... so what gives? He did get shelled the other day, but it usually takes a solid week of that crap to lose your closer gig... It's just Jim Tracy yanking our chains.

Jim Tracy isnt the manager anymore.

Could the reason be that the dodgers are giving up on the race and want to see the closer of the future pitch in a save situation?

oops. sorry for the East Coast bias/ignorance there. That does sound like the most reasonable explanation, an audition...

If that's the case though (audition) wouldn't someone, somewhere have known about it and reported it? Wouldn't the Dodgers broadcasters know that was at least a reasonable possibility? I think there has to be another explanation.
