I would think it would be liriano, but i really don't understand how verlander can't get it, since he has been superb all year and has 13 wins. But liriano if I had to choose one person.
It just seems sad how out of these 4, Liriano, Verlander, Paps and Weaver, 3 of them won't get rookie of the year. All 4 deserve it, even Weaver (c'mon he's close to a 25 year old rookie record) and is pitching amazingly. Sad to see 3 of them not get a reward (well possibly 2 if 1 gets the Cy and the other the ROY)
I suppose a case could be made for Zumaya being a canidate based on the value he has to the Tigers. I think Zumaya is a huuuuuuggggggeeeeeee reason the Tigers are where they are.

I know that this could very well happen, so this is not meant to criticize your comments, but rather to criticize the reality that this may actually happen...
How can a PITCHER win the Cy Young Award, but then not win ROY when it goes to another PITCHER? That's basically saying that one guy is the best pitcher in the league, but he's not the best rookie pitcher in the league... it makes no sense!

Of course logically that should be the case, but I would think that MLB would "share the wealth", as it were? It wouldn't surprise me at all...
Fernando Valenzuela won both the Cy and ROY in '81. Of course, he WAS the sensation that year and there weren't others. But, that is the only precendent we have to go by. If one of these guys wins the Cy, it will be pretty hard to deny them the ROY.
