We have pleny of outfield talent, M's are higher on Adam Jones, especially defensively....Safeco favors lefthanded hitters and Broussard should thrive platooing against righties. Everett just wasnt getting the job done. Trade makes sense, but if Broussard is a free agent next year and doesnt want to return to seattle...it would become just an average rent-a-player for M's

The Indians said they're committed to keeping V Mart at C.

Ya but with Hafner at 1B and Vmart at C, their defense is just gonna suck.

Assuming Hafner stays at DH, who takes over 1B for the tribe? Do they have anyone they are planning to call up?

Apparently the M's will control Broussard for a couple more years, so it's not exactly a rent-a-player deal... And with the OF set for a few more years (assuming Jones is the man in CF), Choo didn't have anywhere to play. I think it's a good trade. We shall certainly see though. I was wrong once before... ;-)

I guess the M's are definitely going to be buyers this year. Meche isn't going anywhere.

Per ESPN March

Choo is scheduled to begin a mandatory two-year service in the South Korean military at the end of the season when his passport expires, the Seattle Times reports.

seems Casey Blake and VMart are to platoon at 1B, and Garko stays in Triple A.

as per Rotoworld:

Shin-Soo Choo will immediately take over as the Indians' right fielder against right-handed pitching, GM Mark Shapiro said Wednesday.
Casey Blake will remain a full-time player. He'll start at first base against righties and in right field versus lefties. The Indians will continue using Victor Martinez at first base against lefties, with Kelly Shoppach catching. Ryan Garko gets left in Triple-A. Choo is worth grabbing in AL-only leagues. He's probably not ready to hit for average right now, but he could be good for a half dozen homers and 6-10 steals over the rest of the year.
