has to be madson since they're so limited, although they could convert 1 of their young starting arms to close.

no way it will be madson....gordon wont be traded for this exact reason but you have to think they'd let rhodes close before madson. but the sleeper candidate is scott mathiason.

Its looking doubtful that Gordon is going anywhere.

Madson? That looks about as good as the Jorge Sosa experiment

Why wouldn't the Phillies try and trade Gordon? Philly is completely out of it, and I'm sure Gordon would net some good prospects for them. Plus, how many more years is Gordon really going to produce?? His ERA is under 3.00 right now, send him somewhere for some good young guys.
...Boston papers now and then suffer a sharp flurry of arithmetic on this score; indeed, for Williams to have distributed all his hits so they did nobody else any good would constitute a feat of placement unparalleled in the annals of selfishness. -Updike

I saw in rotoworld that Houston is trying to deal Lidge to the Phillys for Abreu and then deal Gordon away. I think this makes a lot of sense because I still think Lidge will be a dominating closer when his head is right. He is still striking people off. If you can get Lidge and some propsect from Abreu I think Philly will do the deal then unload Gordon. Otherwise, I don't see how Phillys can trade away their closer for nothing just to unload Abreu.

I could actually see that happening. Phillies just don't want to give up Abreu for a salary dump and a change of scenary may just be what Lidge needs - it apparently worked for Steady Eddy
