Stuck with an unproductive catcher? Eliezer Alfonzo has tallied 7 HR, 19 RBI, 1 SB and a .291 AVE in 18 games for the Giants. He was called up June 2. Alfonzo is 27 and displayed a fair bit of power in the minor leagues. He certainly seems to have solidified his spot on the San Francisco roster in the absence of Mike Matheny.

I (brilliantely) picked him up in place of DL'd David Ross and got two solid weeks out of him and just traded him and Derrick Turnblow for Randy Wolf and Xavier Nady in my NL Only league. He will put up solid numbers but don't expect this tear to continue, Matheny will be given equal starts or more once he returns.

And if Matheny never returns?
I believe he has earned the job. But, remember these are the Giants. Sabean will use him for trade.

I'm only gonna carry two catchers anyhow and I like Ross and Barrett more than Alfonso (although he just hit another dinger!)
