Scott Kazmir to miss start on Friday

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Tampa Bay Devil Rays left-hander Scott Kazmir will miss his scheduled start Friday night against the New York Yankees because of shoulder soreness.

The Devil Rays do not consider the problem serious and expect the 22-year-old Kazmir to pitch next Tuesday against Detroit.

"He's a little bit sore," Tampa Bay manager Joe Maddon said before Wednesday's game against the Los Angeles Angels. "We just wanted to move him back and give him a couple extra days. We're pretty sure he's going to be fine at that point. I really have no major concerns at all. I think a little extra rest will do the trick."

Kazmir, the Devil Rays' only All-Star this season, is 10-7 with a 3.36 ERA in 21 starts.

"We're just taking the time to make sure it's 100 percent," Kazmir said. "I can tell it's just a couple days."

Kazmir also had his first scheduled start following the All-Star break on July 15 pushed back several days because of a stiff neck.

It's being reported at Rotoworld as well:

Scott Kazmir will miss his scheduled start Friday night against the Yankees because of shoulder soreness.
Uh oh. He's now scheduled to pitch Tuesday against the Tigers, but this is something to watch. "He's a little bit sore," manager Joe Maddon said. "We just wanted to move him back and give him a couple extra days. We're pretty sure he's going to be fine at that point. I really have no major concerns at all. I think a little extra rest will do the trick." The Rays have Thursday off, so they won't need to call up a start. Tim Corcoran will be moved up in the rotation to pitch Friday.

I assume it is his left shoulder??
Basically I'm complicated.
I have a hard time taking the easy way
I wouldn't call it schizophrenia
But Ill be at least two people today

If that's OK

And I can go on, and on, and on...

But who cares?

Ugh...I have a feeling Kazmir owners (Myself included) will have to deal with these little injuries with him for his entire career...he just seems like a fragile guy.

The guy is small. 170 lbs but throwing rockets?

Damn, my trade karma continues. As soon as I trade for a guy, it blows up in my face.

A couple of seasons ago, I heard that the mets traded him because they thought that his mechanics would lead to arm problems down the road.

What I want to know: Is he good enough at "pitching" to get by with less velocity, this season? I mean if he has to lay off his velocity to preserve his arm? Say if he throws 91-92 MPH instead of his heat, could he pull it off?
