RF - Ichiro
SS - Reyes
1B - Pujols
DH - Ortiz
LF - Ramirez
CF - Beltran
C - Mauer
3B - Rodriguez (Sorry E-Rod )
2B - Utley (slight homerism, you also have to take into account that he makes near the league minimum and is one of the top 2B in the league, doesn't complain about it either)
since when is brandon webb a top 5 sp??? gimme pedro, or carpenter over webb anyday...another thing...all you guys picking vlad over ichiro are absolutely insane...vlad is a TERRIBLE fielder with a great/reckless arm. hes a bonehead. and if you are considering defense in this argument how can you pick beltran over andruw jones? they are practically the EXACT same hitter offensively minus the sb, and andruw getting a lot of extra pts for clutch hitting. another thing....give me mike matheny behind the dish. with a lineup like that you dont need a 9 hole catcher with offensive numbers. ill take the best defensive catcher in the game and someone who knows how to call a game/handle his pitchers before a contact hitting offensive catcher with a mediocre defensive game

Point taken that Carpenter and Pedro are better than Webb, but Webb is having a fantastic season. I don't think it's a mistake at all for him to be included with the elite pitchers this year.

Mauer's defensive game is not really mediocre, in fact he's very good defensively and he calls great games for his pitching staff. It's a happy coincidence that he comes attached to a .370 bat.
just put rafael palmeiro and sammy sosa on that team and there you go...
Ask anyone involved in baseball and they'll tell you that he's still one of the most feared hitters in the game....The way teams pitch to him reveals to me that this is indeed the truth...
One bad season doesn't erase the fact that he is the best hitter from our generation. I wouldn't mind Barry hitting cleanup in front of Pujols....Manny and Crawford are great players too, but Barry Bonds is....well number 2 on the all time homerun list. I have respect for that.
Why are people so quick to choose Reyes over Tejada? If this is just for one season, isn't a guy who can hit .300, drive in 150 runs and play solid defense more valuable than a fast, good defender?

Reyes got the nod from me because my lineup was already stacked with power, Tejada would have been overkill.
