I can't think of a logical reason of why they brought him in either. Even with Ohka and Sheets back, there's nobody that is threatening Bush for his rotation spot.

As I mentioned in the game commentary forum, Bush is still their 5th starter, but will occasionally make these middle relief appearances because of off days.

Especially after the less than stellar results they got out of him last week when they did this

I don't really agree with it either, but the main advantage of it is to keep your 4 other pitchers on their normal throwing routines, and only 1 pitcher (Dave Bush) will be screwed up by the off days.
