My favorite is The Pride of St. Louis. Nobody talks about it much and I blame that on the dreaded east coast bias.
The scene where Dizzy Dean is doing play by play is fantastic.

Cobb was an okay movie but the scene with Cobb's mother (MILF?) makes it worth the rental.

Bang the Drum Slowly is good too but it's not as good as the book. That book is a must read for baseball fans.

Every Time! Field of Dreams is a distant second, and yes I get weepy at the end with "Wanna have a catch". 8 men out and 61* are also great movies!

This basically sums up my exact feelings, so I only need to quote. ;-D

I also really liked Fever Pitch. ;-D

Another good baseball movie that I liked that hasn't been mentioned yet was "Little Big League", where a kid inherited the Minnesota Twins and decided to manage them himself. The actual baseball scenes in that movie were the best I've seen and the quiz the assistant manager gave the kid to determine if he was knowledgeable enough to actually manage the team was quite convincing. Good Flick!!!

On the opposite end of the spectrum, anybody ever watch "Rookie of the Year"? You know, the movie where some annoying 10 year old kid breaks his arm and when it heals, he's able to throw 100 mph and pitches in the big leagues? What a piece of crap that was.

That movie suprised me. It got panned by the critics and the coming attractions looked awful. Watched it the other night and it was pretty hilarious. Not a great baseball movie by any stretch but definitely worth watching for the laughs.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

"What's steroids?"
"Something that makes your pee-pee smaller."
"Ohh... there must be steroids in macaroni!"
You have no frame of reference, Donny. You're like a child who walks into the middle of a movie...
