Derrek Lee back to the DL

The Cubs have placed first baseman Derrek Lee on the 15-day day disabled list because of "post-traumatic inflammation of his right wrist."

The team called up infielder Ryan Theriot from Triple-A Iowa to take his roster spot.

Lee was on the DL from April 21-June 25 after fracturing two bones in his right wrist in a collision with the Dodgers' Rafael Furcal on April 19. Since he came back to the team he has hit .227.

It's Theriot's third call-up of the season. He is hitting .154 with the Cubs but .304 with Iowa.

The best thing the Cubs could do in the off-season is fire every single medical worker they have on staff and start over. :-t

You knwo what, I'm actually happy they did this. I can't drop Lee and no one wants him ina trade. By doing this I can put him on the DL and pick up a bat. He's done nothign but kill my lineup since his return. Cubs got some horrible doctor's though.

It looks like Cubs have mishandled yet another injured player. Lee might be back in 15 days, but it's anyone's guess how much of an impact he'll make the rest of the way. The Cubs will go back to using Phil Nevin and Todd Walker at first base for now. If either or both is traded, it might be that John Mabry will also see time at first. Neifi Perez and Ryan Theriot will get Walker's playing time at second base. Jul. 24 - 4:06 pm et

Can we please fire Dusty now, PLEASE. How many guys does he have to have a hand in injury before he and his staff goes.

if Dusty is still the mgr expect him back in 15 days, if we get someone with a clue he will be shut down for the year unless you have enjoyed the D.Lee since he came back.

He came back way too soon for a broken wrist, so i see him out for the rest of the season, if the cubs are smart (which they aren't), to get his wrist a 100% for next season. It's obvious that Lee wasn't even near 100%.
