Lets get a cafe consensus of the top 10 prospects from,
'06 midseason...
(End of July/Start of August '06)...

Who would you rank as the top 10 prospects for '07?
(We will revisit our list's next season )


Throwing my hat into the ring...

Considering many of the top prospects right now, are or will be in the majors before end of year...This will cause many to lose the "Prospect" eligibility..(130 AB's)

Players who would be near top of my list, but I don't feel will be...
"Prospect" eligible next season:

Stephen Drew
Howie Kendrick

That being said..Here is my list:

#1: Delmon Young (best minor league player to come around in many years, and very well could get called up in Sept, but still should have less than 130 AB's if he does get called up)

#2: Alex Gordon (This guy is the REAL DEAL)

#3: Justin Upton (This kid has unlimited potential, and can play many different positions..VERY young, and will show why he could be #1 overall on this list)

#4: Lastings Milledge (Power will come...Defensive genius, and much better eye than many thought...Fast, with a Big arm...Can do it all)

#5: Brandon Wood (Power has continued this year in the minors, and should be Vladdy's best friend come start of next year '07 season..Will be the protection Vladdy has needed for last few years)

#6: Billy Butler (This kid will win a batting title, and develop very good power...Bat has been ready all year,and now has a position...Regardless once he gets the call...Billy will be a star in the Majors for many years!)

#7A: Phillip Hughes (NASTY, and YOUNG...Will be a Cy Young canidate eventually in the majors someday)

#7B: Homer Bailey (See Above...NASTY and YOUNG!..Just a matter of opinion, because interchangeable with Hughes, depending on preference )

#8: Mike Pelfrey (I believe he will be sent back down, because he needs more seasoning in AAA, before the '07 season begins..but with the Mets who knows what will happen)

#9: Troy Tulowitzki (Position matters! This kid will be one of the best SS in the game once he gets the call, and Coors field won't hurt his numbers either )

#10: Carlos Gonzalez (He is showing why he may be the best overall prospect in the DBack org. Still young, but has UNLIMITED potential...If your not sure who this kid is, you will soon )

Though BA has a love affair with /Upton and may not rank him lower than 4.

Where did you see that Gonzalez has been promoted to AA? I can't find any stories about it anwyere - any wire reports, the affiliate websites, rotoworld, etc.

Oh, sorry - he hasn't been promoted yet. He's torn up A+ and probably should get a brief stint with AA before the end of the season.

This is from early July:

Single-A Lancaster's Carlos Gonzalez homered, tripled and drove in four runs yesterday.
Gonzalez got off to a slow start, but he's currently hitting .328/.381/.589 with 11 steals in 19 attempts. The Diamondbacks will likely test him with Double-A before the end of the season.

He's also got 15 homers and 49 XBH. There are few things about his game to not like, but he has a reported poor work ethic (Prima Donna attitude), poor SB%, and awful BB:K.

I don't know how anyone can have a prima donna attitude while driving round the southwest on a bus in the dead of summer, but oh well.

I was hoping he got promoted. My minor league system in my keeper league is seariously lacking guys who may play in '07 let alone '06.
