Matt Garza?

Postby Havok1517 » Mon Jul 24, 2006 10:20 am

Manager Ron Gardenhire indicated Sunday that he'd like to see Matt Garza called up from Triple-A.
Garza began the year in Single-A, so general manager Terry Ryan may want to play it safer than Gardenhire does. "I'll probably call [Ryan], and talk to him about a few things," Gardenhire said, "and just happen to mention, 'How's Garza doing?' If he says, 'Oh, he's fine,' then it probably means he's not willing to talk about him yet." Jul. 24 - 9:50 am et

i'd give the kid another year to polish up his skills in triple-A. he's been dominant in A and AA this year and his AAA numbers aren't too shabby. he hasn't had a lot of experience at that level though and another season of it can only do good for him.
the twins trying to send up another young arm to the bigs :-o

He should already be on most minor league teams in a keeper system.

a spot callup wouldn't hurt him and it'd be a reward as well as initiative to keep doing what he's doing.

"an Incentive" I believe are the words you are looking for....I think you may need to leave your fortress of solitude for some fresh air. ;-)

A lot of people will tell you "he's not ready" or he simply needs more time, but I think he's ready enough to be better than Silva and be just as good (if not better) than Baker's been this year. The Twins are starting to look like a playoff contender. I don't think considering Garza as an option is a bad idea.

Also Gardenhire didn't say when he would inquire about Garza did he? Maybe they are waiting beyond the trade deadline to see what happens? And in the meantime Garza will still make another start or two?

This kid is sooooo ready for the Bigs. Even if it's in the 'pen. The Twins may give him 5 starts in AAA but they will call him up this summer for sure.

His numbers tell the story. He's ready and legit.
