Ozzie being Ozzie

Postby Old_Style » Mon Jul 24, 2006 8:42 am

Will this guy ever stop his antics? I used to like his outlandish personality but when is enough, enough? His starter Jon Garland goes out and pitches 8.1 innings of scoreless baseball and is yelled at by Guillen for not plunking Ian Kinsler after Vicente Padilla hit Alex Cintron. He than goes out and talks to the media about it. This situation, in my opinion, should stay behind closed doors. None of this, or anything he has said or done this year, comes as a surprise but he should be able to hold back and show that he is in a position of authority. This guy has got to keep his emotions in check and do what's best for the team, it might come back to bite his team in the butt.

What are they, 6 games behind the Tigers now? They can't afford to have players suspended because Ozzie wants to get in a beanball war. In a year or two this team will stop winning and then Ozzie will say something dumb and be out of a job.

Lets get your second best pitcher suspended right in the middle of a heated playoff race. Great idea Ozzie :-?

Padilla beaned his man with one on and nobody out. It led to an easy run being scored. There is absolutely no way that it was intentional--that's just stupid.

So Ozzie is willing to get one of his top pitchers suspended and put a runner on in a one-run game in the midst of a losing streak as he falls out of playoff contention? For an UNINTENTIONAL bean ball?

And then he gets pissed about it when his pitcher misses.

What an idiot.

What's absurd is that Ozzie said he knew it was intentional because Padilla is the nastiest pitcher in the American League (meaning there's no way someone so dominant with such command could accidentally hit a batter-- like he's Liriano).
Chris Iannetta was born on Krypton and transported to Earth as an infant and saves the universe when he's not getting on base every plate appearance.

We all know Ozzie's an idiot.

Anyone remember this gem from earlier in the year? While Garland won't get demoted, this just further shows how Ozzie's an idiot.

I'm a Ranger fan, but even I know Padilla isn't that great of a pitcher. He accidentally plunks a guy, and then Guillen orders Garland to hit someone in return? I don't blame Garland at all for throwing behind Kinsler. Why possibly injure someone who had nothing to do with any of it?

Just stupid for Guillen to be upset with Garland. :-t

I couldnt agree with you more about Ozzie. But it really is a shame because his team plays baseball the right way, the way it should be played.
