My Drafted SP:
3rd: Pedro martinez
5th: Carlos Zambrano
9th: Danny Haren
11th: Cliff Lee
12th: Brett Myers
14th: Oliver Perez (dropped)
19th: Javier Vazquez
22nd: Matt Cain
Total Roto Points of ERA + WHIP + Ks + Ws = 24.5
League Leader's Drafted SP:
8th: Barry Zito
10th: Brandon Webb
13th: Kevin Millwood
21st: Kenny Rogers
22nd: Vicente Padilla
23rd: Matt Clement (dropped)
Total Roto Points of ERA + WHIP + Ks + Ws = 45
This league leader checks in on his team about once every week. He doesn't bench his SPs when they have bad matchups, yet his ERA and WHIP lead the league. For instance, today he had Vicente Padilla starting against the White Sox, and Padilla gives up 1 ER on 3 hits, 8 Ks. I don't get it, this guy drafted mostly bums when compared to whom I drafted, yet they give him great outings every time they go out! I can't explain it other than LUCK!!

i see your point but with him drafting webb in the 10th, you could argue he has been better than any pitcher you have on your team this year, so i dunno...
There are no guarantees in fantasy sports. Having a better player only gives you a higher probability that you will win in a given matchup, though over the long haul things usually sort themselves out.

Well pre-season I was targetting these guys as my LIMA aces:
Webb
Lackey
Lowry
Haren
Kazmir
Chris Young
Kelvim Escobar
Jeremy Bonderman
Mark Mulder
Myers
Most are high K pitchers that I felt were just about to turn the corner. While some definately didnt turn out, (Lowry, Haren, Escobar, Mulder), many did (Bonderman, Lackey) and exceeded already high expectations (Webb, Kazmir, and Young).
Everyone but there mother predicted Chris Young would do well, while Webb, Lackey and Myers were 200k pitchers going fairly low, Kazmir and Bonderman were hot young K machines, and Mulder, Lowry, and Haren were guys with not much press who I thought would do well.
yeah, I don't really follow baseball and I'm only participating in FB this year because my friends needed a 10th person to make an even league. I took Jo. Santana in the first round because he was the highest name on the list I had with the 10th overall pick. For the rest of my team, I just drafted the names that I recognized from my Ken Griffey Jr baseball game from 1999: Tom Glavine, K. Rogers, R. Clemens and R. Johnson. Then I just picked up random players that I read about here: Jo. Johnson, B. Myers, Jer. Weaver, M. Cain and I'm doing pretty well right now.
