I rock the vote to KEEP the purple Phenom and his friends!
Only way I see Lugo being traded as an upgrade is if he goes to the Blue Jays. They are a contender, need a SS, and a leadoff hitter. He is their man, it's like a match made in heaven. Bad part is both these teams are in the same division.
Perfect situation for me was for Hillenbrand and League to go to TB for Lugo, but Highly unlikely the Jays would want him there.
I liked back when rumors had Lugo playing 2B for the Mets -- even if Randolph isn't smart enough to bat him between Reyes and Beltran, the 2b eligibility back would be sweet.

Actually, any Blue Jays fans care to comment on where they think Lugo would hit in the order if traded to the Jays? I think he'd have a legit shot at the leadoff slot but I don't know the team that well. It's not like they have a Reyes on their team though.
Jul 28 Bill Chastain, of TampaBay.DevilRays.MLB.com, reports the Tampa Bay Devil Rays have made a contract offer to SS Julio Lugo, although there was no length or money figures mentioned. Lugo's agent Danny Lozada said he expects to get back to the Devil Rays Friday, July 28, regarding the offer.

Heck, to furhter the devils advocate, what would prevent the Devil Rays from resigning him and then trading him (short of a clause of course). The urgency to trade is gone on the part of the Devil Rays, but the price of what they could get for him should increase since he would no longer be a 2 month rental. But hey, then again - maybe they are just signing him and then bringing up Upton to play third.
I think I could spend days coming up with all of the scenerios that could take place with Devil Rays squad and the options they have.
