Lugo - traded? Nope - ready to sign longterm deal (7/28)

Lugo is not in the starting lineup today. Is he being held out due to an impending trade? Or is this just a day off? He had a monster game at the plate yesterday and has been huge for the lat month (batting .411, 22 runs, 8SBs.

He was pulled from last nights game, too.
Haven't heard anything about an injury but I've got to think something is going on.

I read on a Devil Rays site that Lugo hadn't had a day off since coming back from an injury earlier in the year, and last night's game was a blowout...so they took him out and gave him a day game off after a night game.

Just read it on Yahoo's boxscore comments:

Devil Rays SS Julio Lugo, who could be traded before the non-waiver deadline July 31, was out of the starting lineup. He was also taken out of Saturday night's game after hitting two homers in the fifth inning. "It's just a day off," Maddon said. "He's been gettng after it real hard so I'm giving the day."

Doesn't sound too convincing. I think he'll be shipped before the deadline. Hopefully, to a contender.

I could be way off on this -- are trades announced on weekends? I can't recall one that has been. I honestly think he has been traded. Could be wrong, of course.

It's a win win for me... I own Lugo and Crawford... Lugo goes to a contender, and Crawford likely gets more SB ops.

How does Lugo going to a contender make him more valuable? Lugo hitting leadoff in Tampa is very valuable. If he is hitting 8th in New York or Toronto then his value plummets even though his team is better. Crawfords value will not change either. He will stay in the 2-3 hole for the year. Upton will probably be the leadoff man if Lugo is traded.

Nothing is a sure thing as far as improving his value...please get rid of the Barney and Friend picture.
