What's wrong with Dan "Hairy" Haren?

Postby Members Only Jackets » Sun Jul 23, 2006 6:49 am

He throws hairy stuff but has been pitching like horse bleep lately...I feel like a pootz because I recently got him in a trade and thought it was a great move--still do but I'm losing a lil faith with each bad outing.

What happened? He has Derek Lowe disease.

maybe it's just a slump? :-?
he doesn't have a history with injury, so it can't be a lingering injury or complication.

I sat him against the Tigers because they were hot. Boston had just started a nice streak when he faced them too. Could just be unlucky in facing two hot teams in a row.

I'm not worried too much about what he's done so far. He's faced 2 very good offenses in his last two starts and got roughed up. In my opinion, he's not good enough to start against every offense, but he's worth having and pitches well way more often than not.

He'll be fine the rest of the year. ;-D

AND the Tigers had seen Haren's stuff within the last month. Normally that's to a hitter's advantage.

He's mostly a #3 or 4 so I don't expect him to be lights out each time

I see him eventually becoming a solid #2.

Two bad starts against top offenses.

Nothing to see here, move on.
