wouldn't be surprised if this freed up the padres to trade linebrink to a team in need of a closer for a third base man.

Linebrink isn't going anywhere; I'm not sure how many times Towers has to say that before his name subsides in trade rumors. :-°

There is soo much talk about pitchers being expensive this trade deadline... yet both Williamson and Wickman were moved dirt cheap.
