In return, the Cubs got pitching propects Joel Santo and Fabian Jimenez.
Any Padres fans to tell us where Williamson fits on the team's pitching staff?
Cubs acquired RHP Joel Santo and LHP Fabian Jimenez from the Padres for RHP Scott Williamson.
Both have decent arms, but Santo and Jimenez have disappointed with their performances this year. Santo, 22, had a 5.38 ERA and a 48/54 K/BB ratio in 92 IP for low Single-A Fort Wayne. Jimenez, 19, had a 4.43 ERA and a 54/52 K/BB ratio in 87 1/3 innings for the same club. It's disappointing that Jim Hendry didn't do better here. He'll be fortunate if one of these two turns into a quality reliever.
